Decades earlier, I travelled across oceans to pursue my education to build my independence. That journey set the foundation for the first half of my career, where I followed a linear path in retail merchandising and buying. I was driven and analytical, focused on climbing the corporate ladder with a clear sense of where I was headed.
Suddenly, my life was interrupted. Circumstances beyond my control shifted everything and left me feeling lost. Uncertain of what path to take next, I became determined to find my footing again.
In that space of uncertainty, I found my way to yoga therapy, not as a career move, but as a way to manage my well-being and to reroot when everything felt unstable. What I didn’t expect was that this decision would open the door to my creative path. Yoga therapy taught me to listen more deeply and gave me permission to explore my path in a more authentic way.
That exploration eventually led me back to school to study technical fashion design, where I integrated all my knowledge to recognize the value of being a maker. This journey, though unconventional, was exactly the experience I needed to begin building my creative career.
This creative path opened up a whole new world for me, leading me across industries: from technical fashion design to product development, space planning to event styling, from bathroom renovations to home decor. Each role and each project added a new layer to my understanding of how things are made, how spaces come together, and how creative visions come to life.
The Birth of Butterfly Spirit
Butterfly Spirit was born in that space of exploration as a way of honouring the transformation I was undergoing and the creative path I was stepping into. It was a name that carried the energy of gentle transformation, fragile strength, and the courage to trust the process.
The Evolution
Since those early days, I have evolved and Butterfly Spirit has continued to evolve alongside me.
It had always been a quiet companion, a space where I could silently capture my work and build my portfolio without pressure or expectation. As I grew, it became an outlet for my creative expression and has now become a platform to share my work.
This journey has also been shaped by my collaborations with other creatives and partners, each one adding depth to my work and enriching the projects we have brought to life together. These partnerships, rooted in mutual creativity and shared curiosity, are where we inspired one another to create something neither of us could have achieved alone.
Today, I am using this space not only to continue building upon my portfolio, but also to showcase co-created projects with others who share a similar spirit of collaboration and creative energy.
